The cognac of Chateau d'Orignac has been Eyal Rotem's (Clos de Gat's owner and winemaker) personal choice for many years.
Chateau d'Orignac has been a family estate for several generations consistently devoted to producing high quality cognacs. The 20 hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the Appellation Cognac and Pineau des Charentes 'Fin Bois' on the limestone slopes near the Gironde estuary, 50 kms north of Bordeaux, France. The grape varieties planted on the estate are Colombard and Ugni-Blanc, the average age of the vines is 30 years, low yields and careful viticulture practice ensure optimum fruit quality necessary for producing top quality cognacs.
