Clos de Gat has created “Sycra” (Aramaic for bright red), to showcase the exceptional quality of grapes grown in its vineyards in certain years, allowing the wine maker to produce wines of great distinction and longevity.


Sycra Syrah 2013


  • Syrah 100% 

Vinification: Traditional, after sorting and crushing the grapes are transferred for ‘wild yeast’ fermentation to open tanks. The wine is then aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: The wine has a deep dense purple colour. On the nose it is intense and complex, subtlety oaked, with classical Syrah characteristics of warm spicy, peppery and red fruit aromas. On the palate the wine is full bodied, beautifully balanced with good acidity, superbly structured with smooth well integrated tannins. The finish is long, complex and elegant.
Drink: 5-15 years from vintage.
Serving Temperature: 18-20°C.
Serving Suggestion: Mediterranean cuisine,grilled & roasted meats, casseroles, spit-roasted wild boar.13

Sycra Muscat 2006


Grape Varieties: A blend of 85% ‘Muscat of Alexandria’ and 15% Viognier.

Vinification: Aged for four years in matured French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: This exotically-delicious dessert wine, displays a beautiful golden hue, on the nose it reveals a generous, complex bouquet dominated by jammy fruits, dried apricots, orange peel and spices. Its creamy texture and perfect balance are an ideal marriage of richness and freshness, the finish is long, elegant, and stylish.
Drink: 2010 - 2030
Serving Temperature: 8C-12C
Serving suggestions: A perfect complement for foie gras, tropical fruits and strong blue cheeses.

Sycra Chardonnay 2013


  • 100% Chardonnay - Single Vineyard  

Vinification: Traditional vinification methods, the grapes are hand- picked, after rigorous sorting they are lightly pressed and the juice transferred for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation into new French oak barrels. The wine is aged on its natural lees for 18 months."Batonnage" is done very sparingly before being moved into stainless steel tanks prior to bottling unfiltered. 
Tasting Notes: The wine has a fine, brilliant pale yellow colour. On the nose it is elegant and complex, with hints of spice, orange blossoms and citrus fruits. 
On the palate its displays freshness, good acidity and a harmonious balance between fruit and oak, with a long lingering finish. 
Drink: 3-12 years from the vintage (under appropriate storage conditions)
Serving Temperature: 12-14°C.
Serving Suggestion: perfect partner with salads, fish, sea food, poultry and white meats.

Sycra Merlot 2013


 Sycra Merlot

 

The fine fruit reflects the terroir that echo throughout all of Clos de Gat’s wines. The wine is a deep red-black color, with an aroma that reveals black and red fruit along oak. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, powerful, and with balanced tannins. The finish is long, complex and elegant. 

Varietals: 100% merlot

Sageing: 20 months in new-french oak, racking every 4-6 months, the wine is unfiltered.

Vinification: Hand harvest. After crushing-destemming the wine goes through maceration and fermentation in open vats on the wild yeast

Drink by5-15 years since harvest

Serving temperature: 18-20 Celsius

Food pairing: Mediterranean cuisine grilled & roasted meats, casseroles and strong cheeses.
