Sycra Collection

Clos de Gat has created “Sycra” (Aramaic for bright red), to showcase the exceptional quality of grapes grown in its vineyards in certain years, allowing the wine maker to produce wines of great distinction and longevity.

Sycra Syrah 2013

  • Syrah 100% 

Vinification: Traditional, after sorting and crushing the grapes are transferred for ‘wild yeast’ fermentation to open tanks. The wine is then aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: The wine has a deep dense purple colour. On the nose it is intense and complex, subtlety oaked, with classical Syrah characteristics of warm spicy, peppery and red fruit aromas. On the palate the wine is full bodied, beautifully balanced with good acidity, superbly structured with smooth well integrated tannins. The finish is long, complex and elegant.
Drink: 5-15 years from vintage.
Serving Temperature: 18-20°C.

Sycra Muscat 2006

Grape Varieties: A blend of 85% ‘Muscat of Alexandria’ and 15% Viognier.

Vinification: Aged for four years in matured French oak barrels.
Tasting notes: This exotically-delicious dessert wine, displays a beautiful golden hue, on the nose it reveals a generous, complex bouquet dominated by jammy fruits, dried apricots, orange peel and spices. Its creamy texture and perfect balance are an ideal marriage of richness and freshness, the finish is long, elegant, and stylish.

Serving Temperature: 8C-12C
Serving suggestions: A perfect complement for foie gras, tropical fruits and strong blue cheeses.

Sycra Merlot 2015

 Sycra Merlot


The fine fruit reflects the terroir that echo throughout all of Clos de Gat’s wines. The wine is a deep red-black color, with an aroma that reveals black and red fruit along oak. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, powerful, and with balanced tannins. The finish is long, complex and elegant. 

Varietals: 100% merlot

Sageing: 20 months in new-french oak, racking every 4-6 months, the wine is unfiltered.

Vinification: Hand harvest. After crushing-destemming the wine goes through maceration and fermentation in open vats on the wild yeast
